I have gone a new route and its working..

My doctors appointment, wasn't very enlightening.. I'm prediabetic, blood work all showed normal, its insulin resistance...After a day of tears, I decided on a new route. I now have a trainer, he's a trainer for mma fighters, and been big on fitness for 30 years. He's a 30 year diabetic, who loves to give back. I've had 4- 90 min sessions so far and down 10 lbs. He has me on a 1000 calorie diet, drinks include water, coffee, crystal light, and lots of green tea. There is no counting carbs, I eat chicken and turkey only, 45 calorie wheat bread, strawberries and bananas. Breakfast is eggs, or special k with fat free milk, bananas or strawberries. Lunch turkey on whole wheat, dinner, low fat and whatever keeps me under my 1000 calories. Super easy to do, and I'm never to eat after 6 pm. I go to my trainer Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The days I'm not there I'm to walk 1 mile, brisk. It is sooo not for someone who isn't determined, because on my off days I'm in so much pain, its unimaginable. In 1 week I could see the change in the mirror. Here's what he has me do, first I get on a stationary bike 30 min 14 mph to start, typically 8 miles. Now I'm at 21 mph 10 miles in 30 min. Then its floor exercises, then bench presses, at 65 lbs. Also a punching bag, of hitting, kicking, and kneeing. I may be sore most of the time, but seeing this change so rapidly is amazing! My doctor has me on Metformin, to see if it helps my body to use insulin properly, tomorrow will be 7 days on it. If I can get my weight off, I have a chance at stopping the diabetes from becoming type 2. So I couldn't be more determined.

The whole line of fat and muscle weight the same is BS! Muscle does weight more than fat! The scale dropped 5lbs since last post but I'm down one size. I've now had 8 days with the trainer. He measures me, but doesn't tell me the results. He just stands back in aww, very pleased with the progress. I do believe the Metformin is doing its job, or else I wouldn't be seeing these results. The changes, the fact I'm in clothes I wore 3 years ago makes all the pain totally worth while. He had me running yesterday and I could feel the difference. I get winded but no pain with it anymore. Now I have eggs and turkey bacon for breakfast or raisin bran with fat free milk. Lunch I'm not much on so I work out and have a blue berry protein shake. Since my protein levels have been low. Its really filling so as for dinner don't know yet. Normally grilled chicken on low calorie whole wheat bread, with olive oil mayo, tomato, and lettuce...yummy...Whatever meat i make for my family is always something I can eat alone with ketchup or on whole wheat. The addition of my low calorie whole wheat bread made this so much more doable.

Yesterday I was on the stationary bike 11 miles on level 4 resistance, a little more difficult so took 43 minutes, then boxing. So 60 minutes of intense cardio. Everyday the pain is decreasing a bit. Special K with fat free milk for breakfast, lunch is gonna be protein shake and small salad, after my 1 brisk mile and some weights and floor exercises. Dinner low cal turkey meatloaf on whole wheat.

Since today and tomorrow are my off days from my trainer, 1 brisk mile on treadmill, 20 minutes of weights, and floor exercises. Breakfast turkey bacon and egg with olive oil mayo on reduced cal whole wheat bread and half a banana. Trainer did my measurements yesterday, it had been 3 weeks exactly I lost a total of 16.5 inches. It throws me that I'm doing better off the low carb diet than I ever did on an atkins diet. I have learned a lot about how to exercise, it matters how much weight you use, the combination of exercises you do, and always a different style daily.

Today started a bit harder with weights, 75 lbs bench pressed 15 reps and 8 sets. Then hand weights 3 sets of each 15 reps, 3 different styles I can't remember the names of them. Six miles on the stationary bike set on 4 resistance. Kicked the bag, 2 minutes non-stop per leg, then 2 minutes of kneeing the bag straight. I am sooooooore now, so I'll be soaking in epsom salts tonight. Nothing but walking tomorrow while I recover and back to the trainers on Wednesday. I don't feel like I've lost anything, but the measurements don't lie. The weight is shifting making me feel odd, I do see it in my chest and shoulders big time. The first 2 weeks I had to make myself go to the trainers, now I can't wait. There's no bigger motivator than, those measurements...yay!

O.k. after a long break from my diet and 3 weeks off from my trainer (not by choice). I spent 3 long weeks with a bad cold. I've finally returned today to my strict diet. All though I didn't go crazy when I was off of my diet. I stayed with my crystal light and water and my diet whole wheat bread only. A lot of my dieting habits are sticking with me by preference not as a requirement, but that's the goal! I never gained any weight, but maintained. I am now benching 130lbs, endurance is gradually improving. Today was floor exercises working on the midsection for 30 minutes and 30 minutes of boxing/kick boxing (its so additive!!). I'm happy to be back and it and the next 5 months are going to be hard! My trainer has set goals for me he didn't before. I must meet certain levels of endurance, speed, and weight loss. I love to be pushed, without it I wouldn't succeed.

Ahhh Mondays...takes a sugar free redbull for these days. Well, today was so pretty out the trainer did outdoor work. I ran A LOT, my knees and legs are killing me. Current weight is 265 lbs, 120 to my goal weight. Its better than the 155 I started at. Trainer has enforced a no food after 5:30pm rule. Now that ones tough, because around 10-11pm my blood sugar bottoms out. So I allow myself coffee with creamer and splenda it really takes the edge off. First day I followed, that scale dropped 2 lbs. It may be the edge i need to make the stupid scale start moving again. Since I am a night person its really torture. He has me on 1000 calories a day but I can not hit that number, its always 650 and that's with 3 meals a day. I'm not looking forward to the temptations of the impending holidays...
