Working out

My golf game is suffering from my work out. I've got more distance but, I'm losing some flexibility, and I'm having back pain (stiffness) in the center of my back. I think it's got to be my lack of stretching. I'm really not sure if I should be doing this during, before or after my strength training. Anyone have any ideas?

Hi Shannon... First of all welcome to the fitness community.... Secondly, let me know what program you are doing right now? Stretching is an important part of any fitness training program and most stretching should take place after your muscles are warm and loose and you have completed your workout routine... Prior to all your workouts, you should warm your muscles up with a 5-10 minute cardio warm up, then train, then stretch......Rob Head Fitness Expert

Hello Robert Thanks....I'm really mixing it up right now. 20 min. cardio then 30 min. circuit training. What ever machines are available 2 sets of 12 then 2 sets of 10, with minimal rest. Then if I'm lucky I get 20 min. on my core at home later. I workout 4-5 times a week. I really haven't been stretching like I should. Why I didn't think of that before is beyond me. I just know not to stretch a cold muscle. Thanks I'll start tomorrow. Shannon

Thanks. Seems to be getting better (golf). I'm just not losing weight. I'm just going to keep on. I've upped my cardio to 30min. and circuit training for 40min 5 days a week. Hopefully I'm gaining muscle and this will work itself out.
