walking meditation

Has anyone tried a walking meditation? If so, please give me some hints on it. I have tried it but can't seem to understand it very well.

I have done a lot of walking meditation. It's not actually what you think, it's more of an awareness rather than meditation. As you are walking you try to heighten your senses by focusing on certain things. First you focus on your feet and the weight transfer between your feet. Then you can focus on the sound that your feet make on the ground. Raise your head and look at things you don't normally look at. For instance you could look at people or trees, or roof tops or the sky

Be careful you don't bump into anything though!! The main idea is to strengthen your awareness by bringing you out of yourself and living in the moment. We so often live in the past or the future - we think tomoro I'll do this, or soon I will be successful. We don't always think about what we are doing right now, this very second. Walking med lets you do this and it should give you a sense of peace and tranquility.

There is actually a spa in High Springs, FL that has a meditation labyrinth. It's pretty amazing, and you could actually paint something similar on a large piece of plywood or something of that nature. I would google walking labyrinth. It helps to have a safe path marked out for you - I know I have "the clumsy," and I really enjoyed the experience.
